Nihaarika Gopinath from Grade IX and
Samudrika Gopinath from Grade V of Oakridge International School, dance
students of Guru Devaraju B.V., performed their Arangetram on 28th Jan 2018 at
Asian Christian High School, Hosur.
Arangetram is a Tamil word; “Aranga”
meaning raised floor and “Etram” meaning climbing in Tamil, and also called
Rangapravesha in Kannada; “Ranga” meaning Stage and “Pravesha” meaning Enter.
The Chief Guests at the event were
Shri P. Bala Krishna Reddy – Minister of Youth Welfare and Sports Development
of Tamil Nadu, Kalaimamani Kumari Sachu – Veteran Tamil Actress and
Bharatanatyam Exponent, Karnataka Kalashree Guru-Kumari B. Bhanumati &
Nrithya Nipune Guru – Smt. Sheela Chandrashekhar. Commenting on the performances,
Kumari Sachu said, “Just like you need to check only a grain of rice to see if
the whole pot is cooked, the Varnam performance was enough to assess
the capability of these young dancers.” In the note of thanks, the performers
