Is Teaching Children Discipline Becoming a Tough Task.

How can you provide discipline to your child so that he or she can function well at home and in public? Every parent wants their children to be happy, respectful and respected by others and able to find their place in the world as well-behaved adults. Nobody wants to be accused of raising a spoiled little monster. But sometimes it seems these goals are miles away from your child’s current behavior.

Discipline is the process of teaching your child what type of behavior is acceptable and what type is not acceptable. Discipline may involve both punishments, such as time out, and more importantly rewards. It sounds so straightforward, yet every parent become frustrated at one time or another with issues surrounding children and discipline.

Your responsibility as a parent is to help your child become self-reliant, respectful and self-controlled. Relatives, therapist, healthcare professionals and most importantly schools can help in this matter. But the primary responsibility for discipline rests with parents. The discipline technique you choose may depend may on the type of inappropriate behavior your child displays, your child’s age, your child’s temperament and parenting style. So you can try some of these methods to make children listen to elders and first step in this is to reward good behavior. Acknowledging good behavior is the best way to encourage your child to continue it. Compliment your child when he/she shows the behavior you have been seeking.

Another method of dealing problem child is to let them bare the natural consequences for whatever he/she has done. When they do something wrong and you give them a lecture on that it might not work. But instead if you let them experience the result they might never repeat it. Logical consequence is another option but very similar to natural consequence. Here you have to make children understand what will be the aftereffects of unacceptable behavior. If we are not getting the ample time talk about the consequences, the best possible way is takeaway some privileges which are already given for good behavior. Other than all these some kind of punishments can be given if required but we have to make sure that safety is ensured.

In some cases teachers can do a better job in making the child listen and behave properly. There are many schools in India who provide well trained teachers who can influence the kids and make them understand right and wrong. For example schools like Oakridge international school in Hyderabad focus on the overall personality development of the kids along with academics. They inspire students to develop good behavior and manners as part of their life.

Making children listen to you with an angry face is very task. But making them listen and understand is difficult. So for that you have to create your own methods since every child behave differently.
