In the course of our life we meet
every day the visual media: we watch television, read magazine, surf on
internet, play computer games and see smaller or bigger posters everywhere in
the city which advertising newer, better and practical produces. However these
situations have become so natural, that we normally don’t realize how they
impress us. But some of what they teach may not we want children to learn.
Because of its influence on us, we tend to forget all about the next questions:
what do we know about the effects of visual media?
The impact of visual media varies
from person to person. But the addiction of similar kind is visible in the
young ones. The content shown in the visual media are often not advisable for
children. The excess showcase of violence, sexual vulgarity, sensationalized
content etc make children more aggressive and they tend to react to such
content. Sometimes you can see the impact of media right away, such as when
your child watches superhero fighting, the same time kid try to imitate it
without knowing the fact that the original video is made with all safety
measures. There were many case studies from India where children tried to
imitate and ended up in disaster.
Not only the aggressive behavior
but sexual crimes increased radically pointing the unhealthy atmosphere
prevailing in our country. Young children are also committing such unforgivable
crimes which are a byproduct of the media. If we keep the mental influence
apart, we can see that it is even ruining all other activities of children.
Children are showing less enthusiasm towards education and started scoring very
less. The habit of reading books has reduced in a dangerous level. They tend to
ignore physical activities by sitting in front of the media and are becoming
overweight and unhealthy.
Parents should not get worried
that there is no solution to such problems. You can sit with your children
while they are watching TV. More over we can persuade them to watch better
quality content so that they can get benefited. One other possible way is to
put limits to the time duration for watching TV. Rest of the time has to be
used for fruitful things. Schools can also play this vital role especially
boarding schools. Children can be molded in a good manner here and very
fortunately there many boarding schools in
India who fulfill this function.
For example schools like biggest international school in Vizag is
one of the best place where they take care of the children and develop their
analytical skills to deal with the issues like over influence of visual media.
Children cannot be stopped from enjoying visual media. But only thing possible
is we can do is to sensor the content which kids are exposed to.
India education growing more and more day by day. Reason behind it is lots of best school that provide best education and many sporty activities. By these things future of students become bright and safer.
