How to Develop the Leadership Quality in Children

Harry S. Truman says Men make history and not the other way around. In periods where there is no leadership, society stands still. Progress occurs when courageous, skillful leaders seize the opportunity to change things for the better. This statement is absolutely true in today’s concept as people step backwards when it comes to leadership. We all tend to behave like parasites that just enjoy the facilities which someone else brings to us. If this same thought came in the mind of our leaders in the history, we all would have been in the same chaos even today.

Leadership cannot be really taught. It can only be learned. So it is clearly understood that this quality has to be instilled in a person at a very young age so that it grows along with him/her. Leadership is always misunderstood with political leadership. Though it is also a part of it, not always only this. Leadership is visible in every sphere of life, where there is a group of people there has to be a leader. It is more observable in schools where each class will have a leader or may be each group will have leader and is often chose by others. But one thing I have observed is that the initiation always comes from others. No one actually come forward with the willingness of becoming a leader.

The courage in a kid to come forward and say that ‘I would like to take up this position’ comes from the encouragement he/she receives from their home and related people. For a good reason we have to start this habit of instilling in them the benefits of taking up leadership. There are many ways to attract children’s attention towards it. Those kids who are interested in stories can be encouraged to read all those books which showcase the life of a hero and his struggles to reach his goal with the leadership quality. Not only stories video games, cartoons, and even sports can encourage kids to develop the quality and get inspired.
If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader. many Schools in bangalore can play a major role in inspiring children to develop the leadership quality.

And very luckily we have many international schools in India who promote such talent. Schools like Oakridge Largest international school in Bangalore stand ahead in this with its commendable record of academics and the overall development of the kids. They have organized programs to bring out such talent in children.Bill Gates says it in the apt manner As we look ahead into the next century, leaders will be those who empower others.
