Oakridge Student Speaks - Oak Champ Manasa Chitti

My name is Mana and up till 10th grade. I was a student of Oakridge Einstein campus. I joined the school when I was in sixth grade prior to which I was studying in the United States. The move from there to here was definitely a drastic one but it was made much smoother with the help of my really supportive teachers as well as my peers Oakridge International School in Hyderabad  has shaped me into the person that i am today by providing me with various different opportunities and exposures to the outside world It's helped. 

It's given me exposure to various different cultures because it's an international school, and it's also given me a taste of India and the life here although the school's primary focuses on academics it does place equal importance on extracurricular activities such as music dance and sports And I got the opportunity to pursue all of these as they were my passion and I was an avid dancer and a singer which I got and I had the opportunity to showcase my passion for these things in Oakridge although this school does place importance on academics it also places equal importance on to extracurricular activities which i feel is a very important aspect for the holistic development of the chill of the student I had the opportunity to pursue some of my passions such as music and dance while I was in Oakridge as well as Sports such as Tennis and basketball We were also taken to various inter-school competitions as well as inter school interest school competitions were also conducted and i feel like those were those gave me more confidence and gave me the ability to improve my social skills and without which I wouldn't have the social skills that I do have today 10th grade was the year of our a GCSE board exams and these were some exams that i was Determined to do my absolute best in what I learned from preparing for these exams was that if you really want to achieve something they have to put your utmost hard work Into it and that - every day because I realized that Stressing out and cramming at the last minute isn't very effective and that was what just put more put me under even more pressure If it weren't for the constant support that I received from my teachers and my friends at Oakridge And I wouldn't be with the position that i am today I just like to thank Oakridge for giving me years that I'd like that cherish forever.

How Students Can be Taught Leadership Skills in School?

The children of today are the future of tomorrow and the future holds great for those who have the capability to become leaders! Leaders are not born, they are made! Yes! Every child is capable of taking charge of tomorrow and leading it effectively like a Pro.

But How?

Sculpting the leadership trait

Here is an interesting event…

During the interaction hour, the teacher had to pick and assign the class leader role to one among the 40 students. To make the selection process easier, the teacher decided to ask the interested students to raise their hands. Not many hands shot up. But the ones that did truly shone confidence. But why weren’t the others interested? Or probably were they less confident? 

Confidence is a driving force to success and schools really need to mould and hone the inherent trait in a child. Some of the top CBSE schools in Hyderabad have also taken the vow to contribute to fine tuning the leadership skill. The IGCSE schools in Hyderabad have left no stones unturned to make the leaders of tomorrow an all endearing personalities.

The 5Ws and 1H

The ‘when’ and ‘how’ come up quite often in life. Any information gets a solid structure when you start answering the math around the 5Ws and 1H. Each child should be encouraged to answer these interesting 5Ws and 1H which enhance better scope for interrogation and invigoration of the success path.

1    What

What makes me a leader? What should I know about before being a leader? What is it in for me?

2    Why

The ‘why’ is the most important one in life. So, why should I be the change? Why should it be me and not anybody else? Why now and why is it important?

3    Where

Where is my right platform? Where is the change that I would like to enforce? Where can I read? Where can I know more?

4   When

When should I act? When is the right time? When will things change?

5   Who

Who is my inspiration? Who do I want to be seen as?

    How

How will I do it? How much should I put in? How does it impact me and the world?

Surprisingly, the answers to all these questions to be asked to self will come from within. That’s when we know, we are born to lead. 

The trivial acts

During a field trip, how a teacher communicates with different people around, shows her confidence. A parent who orders food for their child at a restaurant, is successfully curtailing the simple art of speaking confidently to the servers on what exactly the need and how they need it.

While this might sound trivial, it is necessary for an effective communication. 

It is often at home and then at school, that these skills start manifesting to make a collective difference. 

In the light of all this, it is necessary that the child understands what it takes to be a leader.

A constant perseverance, a strong communication skill and strong negotiation skills can be instilled and inculcated in them through small day to day activities. They take no effort but sure can have long term positive significance. 

Learning to lead self is the basis for leading others. The International curriculum, in various reputed schools across Bangalore and Hyderabad, believes in effectively fine tuning the leadership skills in students and allow them to take responsibility of our future generations.

I'm not said so sure that Person exists all can exist because teeth teaching is very much an interaction between human beings of different kinds different attitudes different backgrounds and so the teacher needs to adjust according to the situation who is teaching and very often in that process he uses his personal experiences rather than some professional expertise and so it often happens that teaching is  more a personal interaction between the child’s teacher and the student and so excellence doesn't come in what does come in is the effectiveness of? communication I think what is very important is for you to remember that you also a person with your own interests with your own passions and those you direct towards the student so that he or she gets the same kind of passion in their lives may be in different areas, but the passionate feelings must go through and that is how a good teacher will? explain, I mean if I'm if I am say talking in terms of science And I will talk in terms of say an Indian scientists like J.C Bose I would get involved in how do you see Bose did this and how? Sensitive instrument was it was so sensitive that the slightest movement of the plant could be recorded and magnified in the machines that he made and I said you know how much thought he gave to that and I would get involved with J.C Bose his experiment And I would then expect that the student would think if he's interested in think of another experiment do similar things so it transfers what you're talking about scientists, so it transfers to the student now when a Teacher came to me when I was a school boy, and he said show me what are you doing in the holidays? And I said well nothing so he said well come with me

We'll go fishing So here was a man who is repaired to spend a little bit of his holidays with me And taught me how to fish and that was inspiring In the nature with rivers and fishing that was very inspiring In the same way you inspire children by doing things which are enjoyable for you but also with children will enjoy because they find it enjoyable So in inspiring children means living a life there you fulfill your own dreams through what you do and what you do these principles shape a student to be emotionally and intellectually independent he coined and lives the motto of Oakridgeinternational school learning the treasure within Often referred to as the man who saw tomorrow Shomie thus truly is an educationist that students teachers and educators Have a lot to learn from you
