How Can we Help Children Enhance Their Memory Skills?

Brain enhancement and the surroundings of a child are directly connected. Many of the children during the school going age face a lot of trouble related to their memory power. There could be many reasons behind it such as attention disorders, lack of interest, physical problems, and mental troubles and so on. In usual scenarios, parents rely on the school and teachers to help their children in those conditions.

The remembering capacity of the brain differs from person to person. Kids tend to associate memories with various things such as visuals, letters, audio, personalities and so on. Human mind accumulates data for the long term and for short term. However, it is our long term memory that needs to be taken care for long lasting results. So, let’s find out some useful tips for teachers to help their students remember things.

The power of meditation and yoga

The first and foremost thing to be taken care is the mental and physical well-being of the child. There is no such powerful treatment than Yoga and Meditation which could promise this. A child’s mind can be kept at peace if we make them meditate on a daily basis. As soon as they are relieved of their stress and worries related to academics, their brain would function more effectively and creatively. Regular practice of Yoga and Meditation shall be made compulsory in schools for the long term benefit of the students. Fortunately, Indian schools have made it as a part of their daily activities. Schools in south India, especially Bangalore CBSE Schools have also made arrangements to practice yoga and meditation for this student recently.

Make children concentrate during sessions

The classroom sessions shall be designed in such a way to attract the attention of the children. If a child is able to focus on what they learn from classroom sessions, then he/she could remember it all through their life. So, it is up to the teacher and the school that the curriculum and teaching strategy should be designed based on this.

Use pictorial depiction to teach

People say a picture saves 1000 words. Visually appealing content remain in a child’s mind forever as they get easily connected with it. Make use of various pictures and diagrams to explain difficult subjects and theories. As long as the kid can remember the image, they would remember the subject matter as well.

The Changing Trends in Teaching Strategies

The strategies of teaching differ from states to states and countries to countries. So far, there has been no certain formula that can be termed as the perfect strategy of teaching as many things go into consideration while forming it. The social, economic, political and statistical factors play an important role while forming a particular teaching strategy that can develop the young minds to be the bright future of tomorrow.

However, there are certain criteria which need to be fulfilled while preparing any teaching strategy. We may also call it the foundation on which the teaching system exists. Here are some of the important factors that should be considered while preparing it.

How to retain the interest of the students?

A successful teaching strategy is that which can constantly engage the children and retain their interest in the learning process. The strategic planners will have to keep in mind that the content has to be understandable, up-to-date and educating. Usually, children in the growing stage face a lot of attention problems which should be addressed in the teaching strategy planning.

Consider the understanding capacity of the learner

While planning the teaching methodology, the most important point to keep into consideration is the learning ability of the learner. The methodology shall enhance the learning skills of the students using various techniques depending upon the social, economic and political conditions that the student lives in.

Importance of suitable evaluation

Most of the teaching strategies face problems when it comes to the assessment part. The circle of teaching can be completed only if the evaluation process is done based on the teachings. Various research organizations have proposed that the age-old exam method is not sufficient to complete the learning process. Instead, this only tests the remembering capacity of the student. There should more qualitative and experiential methods to evaluate the learning capacity of the students. Fortunately, many of the Indian schools, especially some of the Bangalore IB schools have adopted such progressive methods of evaluation to complete the learning circle.

Well set objectives and challenges

Every teaching method should have a well-defined objective to achieve at the end of the academic year. Those goals should be the mental and physical growth of the children to be the responsible citizen of the state who has the potential to drive the country forward. Unfortunately, in many of the cases, the objective remains self-centered as it focuses more on educational achievements and professional growth. A successful teaching strategy shall focus on the greater benefits and overall growth of the individual along with their society.

Communication skills are crucial for anyone to succeed in life. As we all know, the world outside is getting more competitive each day. If you want to make your mark and achieve what you dreamt about, start working on your communication skills. The foundation of communication skills of a person lies in their school education. Since communication involves speaking, reading, writing, and listening abilities, schools play a major role here in developing these skills of a person in various ways.

Having a strong command over languages and communication skills will boost up the confidence of children. In many ways, communication capabilities help children to grow. A few of them are given below:

It helps their learning process

Classroom sessions are an integral part of school education. Well, many of the students find it difficult to match up with the rest of the class due to their lack of communication abilities. This could be related to the social and economic backgrounds they come from. However, it is the duty of the teacher to enhance such students through different study programs so that they can catch up with the class and learn communication skills. Command over languages encourages children to be more attentive and curious in classrooms, which is highly required for a healthy learning process.

It helps them get along with peers

It is during the school days that children learn the beautiful art of building relationships outside the home. It makes them happy from inside and gives them the strength to deal with situations in life with the help of friends. However, lack of proper communication skill stands as an obstacle here in most of the cases. Though children have the ability to overcome hurdles easily, the bonding would be much stronger if there is no communication barrier between the kids.

It shows light on the path of career progress

There is no doubt that a person with good communication skill would surely have an upper hand when it comes to career opportunities. Though it doesn’t mean that the other person does not have knowledge or skills, but your communication skills always portray your confidence. So, it is crucial that children are taught from childhood to communicate properly and study it well from school. In the professional world, a person’s personality is assessed on the way communicate with others.

Indian schools are striving these days to bring in a number of new programs to enhance the communication skills of their students. The south Indian schools, especially the Bestschools in Vizag are incorporating it into their core curriculum to help their students with better communication abilities.
